The LIT Lab directory of law school legal innovation and technology labs is live!
Last July, Quinten and I attended the SubTech conference in Chicago. One of the highlights for me was spending time with folks from other law school innovation labs and learning about their programs. I wanted to get a better idea of who else is doing similar work so we can learn from each other, but when I went looking for a list of labs I couldn’t find anything.
So I made one!
While we’re pretty sure ours is the first online directory of law school innovation and technology labs, this isn’t our first attempt to bring law school labs together. In 2021 we hosted a global law lab showcase. We’ve also found a handful of lists, and the Future Law Works list of law labs (see item 3) was especially helpful in getting this directory started.
Inevitably, making a list means deciding who goes on the list and who doesn’t. The criteria I used are hopefully straightforward: academic programs in which students and faculty design and develop solutions to high-level, real-world legal problems.
So far the directory includes 47 labs from Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. I’m sure I missed some, of course, and I wasn’t able to find all the information about all the labs listed. So if you know of any labs that should be included or you can help update any of the information, please let us know!
